Offline Mode#50

Scrintal should work offline if the user is already logged in when the device was online. The archive can be synced when the connection established next time.

As an individual worker / user I would like to be able to work completely off-line with all my information held locally and synchronised to all devices when ever connection is re-established, as i do not always have a reliable and quick internet connection .. eg when I am out isolated-for-thinking or travelling etc

Hello, I am in a closed country with a dictatorship, the network service is not so smooth, I hope it can support offline…

Chambers.hu … Well that certainly brings me down to earth!
I worry about poor connections in a cafe or on a train but you have to worry about the state! .. thanks for the reality check! Always good to be reminded of these things :)

Thinking further about this especially considering Chambers.hu unfortunate perspective, another ‘must have’ aspect is clarity around data security.

As a user I need to know that my data is secure and accessible only to myself at all times, (offline {clearly} and even when connected/syncronised) unless I explicitly make the choice to share with others.

(another aspect of this is that having worked in a large corporation in a role where Scrintal could have been very useful, in-house/local data storage or e2e encryption to external servers would have been mandated to permit app usage)

  • maybe this should be broken out as a separate request (if not already covered

On browsers supporting service workers (simple most modern browsers), after logging in once and all of your content is cached locally, you can use it offline. However, this does not mean that it is an offline app. It will sync your changes to our servers as soon as there is an internet connection.

The offline support in Scrintal provides you a way to always use it whether you have internet connection or not.

You can utilise the offline capabilities on your browser, using our desktop applications (for Mac and Windows) and on your mobile devices. On iOS devices, add Scrintal to your home screen to be able to use it offline.

I understand @Furkan Bayraktar Now, the question is if there a plan to keep a backup in computers at least, for instance, as Obsidian does.
